i am perplexed at how august has only two blog posts from me. wowee! i do not wish to go so long without communication again. as i am getting ready to go to my fifth day of work on this fine september morning, i only have ten minutes to write. its going to be short…..my little brother just came in from working outside to inform me of the frog, lizard, and baby snake he has found. in being tempted to run outside and explore his exciting discoveries, dear reader, i have chosen to be a good little girl and remain attatched to my keyboard. today i am reading about enoch. in the book of genesis there is a short little passage, marking the importance of his life. it tells of his birth, the kids he fathered, and the end of his life. 365 years in all. if you are not carefully reading every word, it would be easy to miss the most important verse.

genesis 5

23 Enoch lived 365 years, 24 walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him.

can you imagine? walking so closely to God that instead of breathing your final breath of life, God decides to just take you….this is an insanely close relationship between God and His kid. enoch walked with God, shared his life with God. in the famous chapter of faith, hebrews 11, enoch was mentioned again.

5 It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying—“he disappeared, because God took him.” For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God. 6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

we have to gain an explicit understanding that when we seek God, with our whole hearts, He will reward our perseverance. He will be pleased. we will live a life that walks hand in hand with our Lord…
