i decide to write something that doesn’t take much inner thought. something not too terribly boring. did you know that kenya is so very different from the states!? yes. well, i did too. but i didn’t know to what extent it was different. its vastly different. maybe more than vastly but i can’t think of a more intelligent sounding word to fit it. last week we (me and the dear family that i am living with) went to a zoo-ish sort of place. anna is nine. she is my new room-mate. what fun we have had together. she loves animals and it was her idea to spend a saturday visiting this animal orphanage. so we went. pure joy was written in the air all around her. quite a cute thing to see. with many african animals there, my favorite were the monkeys. mostly because they reminded me of my lovely brothers (ha, sorry cory and caleb, but you know i speak truth). the guide that was walking along side us took us to the cheetah area. oh they were young and beautiful. then he poses the question, “would you like to go inside?” anna and joseph hopped with glee, i kinda hopped with a nervous excitement. all the while thinking “gee, i really hope these things don’t suddenly snap and let go of all the pent up anger that maybe they have been keeping to themselves, they’d for sure gouge my eyes out with those enormous claws of theirs….” but i was brave. never could i pass up i chance like this. as i approached the three cheetahs i had a flashback of the ridiculous movie napoleon dynamite when he said “do those chickens have large talons?” i chuckled. i knelt cautiously beside courageous anna, and began petting those beautiful animals. i would love to tell you they snapped and had vengeance on me, a battle scar to prove it. but that would be a lie. it was great. we had fun. cheetahs are nice, i think….
