i sit here, on december the 25th, and marvel at the year that has gone past. it most definitely has been one of immense learning and trusting in Jesus. for the new year, i aim to better myself through the wisdom and love of Christ. However, it could never be done apart from Him. i am pondering, creating, erasing, seeking, reaching, and catching a compilation of resolutions and goals. as you can note below, resolution is a noun. that means, it is placed into motion -
Entry Word: resolution
Function: noun
Meaning: a position arrived at after consideration
sitting here thinking over the day…and, wow, it has been a day. i push my hands to my head trying to shrink the stubborn mind that i was born with. even though the sky won’t fall, don’t you ever wonder if one day, as you search the those pretty heavenlies, a cloud will just plop right out of the atmosphere? gee whiz, a cloud does weigh as much as (read closely), yes, a whopping combination of ten thousand 747 airplanes! maybe you have never thought about that. it would indeed be tragic to have a cloud pummel you. so maybe the sky falling is far fetched. but i am a creature who worries. my soul stirs up quite easily. in comparison, i am much like the soda bottle that is dropped, then immediately opened, its contents riffling madly to the floor. honestly, God is not drop-kicking us into this fathomless world, nor is He letting those hefty clouds trip out of the sky and fall to our earth. He’s got us. through our mistakes and worries, He’s never letting go. “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.” it pleases Him when we let go of our troubles and let Him handle it, throwing our trust on Him every second of the way. He provides for us………everything.
22Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]? 26Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
27“Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! 29And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
32“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.
i am perplexed at how august has only two blog posts from me. wowee! i do not wish to go so long without communication again. as i am getting ready to go to my fifth day of work on this fine september morning, i only have ten minutes to write. its going to be short…..my little brother just came in from working outside to inform me of the frog, lizard, and baby snake he has found. in being tempted to run outside and explore his exciting discoveries, dear reader, i have chosen to be a good little girl and remain attatched to my keyboard. today i am reading about enoch. in the book of genesis there is a short little passage, marking the importance of his life. it tells of his birth, the kids he fathered, and the end of his life. 365 years in all. if you are not carefully reading every word, it would be easy to miss the most important verse.
genesis 5
23 Enoch lived 365 years, 24 walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him.
can you imagine? walking so closely to God that instead of breathing your final breath of life, God decides to just take you….this is an insanely close relationship between God and His kid. enoch walked with God, shared his life with God. in the famous chapter of faith, hebrews 11, enoch was mentioned again.
5 It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying—“he disappeared, because God took him.” For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God. 6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
we have to gain an explicit understanding that when we seek God, with our whole hearts, He will reward our perseverance. He will be pleased. we will live a life that walks hand in hand with our Lord…
the coming up and the setting of the sun. i love it. new days. it’s crazy how faithful this sun is to human kind. always twirling around our beautiful earth. never once in all history has it ever betrayed us by staying hidden, or taking a spin around to another galaxy. it remains here. with us. this unending faithfulness reminds me of that of our great God’s faithfulness. yet His is even more so. if you can imagine that. its crazy. mind boggling. thank you, Father for being more than enough for me…teach me to know you are faithful in ALL things…
-psalm 36:5
5Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, extend to the skies, and Your faithfulness to the clouds.
get this. i am speechless. it is completely impossible for God to change. from james 1 - (amplified version)
17Every good gift and every perfect (free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light, in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse].
